Waba is over 20 years old
The first beta release of Waba happened back in 1998, over 20 years ago. It is still being used today as a VM reference platform for small and embedded devices.
VeriFone Vx Waba

Waba for the Game Boy
Waba has been ported to the Game Boy. Visit www.badping.org/jasos to get the download and see screenshots. Kudos to Justin Armstrong!
Waba and JDK 1.4 Compiler
Sun's JDK 1.4 compiler is different from previous Java compilers. Specifically, Sun changed the way fields are referenced in compiled bytecode. This causes the WabaVM to give a 'field not found' error when running programs compiled with the JDK 1.4 compiler. You can use:

javac -target 1.1 ...

when compiling with the JDK 1.4 compiler to fix the problem.

Mobile Database Software
IMobile Technology has developed IMDB, software that incorporates Waba for Windows CE and adds lots of database functionality, XML, charting and more.
It was brought to our attention that there is another port of Waba to the Zaurus. This port is over a year old and is specific to the Japanese models of the Zaurus. Arigato Sakane-san!

Waba Ported to TI Calculator
A Waba port for Texas Instrument calculators is now available.
Waba Source Code Control
Waba is now available under source code control for future development at waba.sourceforge.net. You can see Waba in an iPaq running Linux and other interesting work there.

Waba is a free open source programming platfom (when used under the GNU license) that lets developers write one program that can run on PalmPilot and Windows CE devices and on any machine that supports Java.
